The Civil Rights Committee, chaired by Mari Newman, will host a discussion with Ben Lebsack of Lowrey Parady Lebsack, LLC on "Ethics Bouillabaisse: Practical and Not So Practical Ethics Tips for Civil Rights Lawyers." This meeting takes place on Tuesday, March 2 at noon via Zoom.
In addition to covering practical subjects, like recent updates to the rule governing contingent fee agreements, why over broad confidentiality provisions in settlement agreements are problematic under various rules of professional conduct, and the extent to which an attorney can direct an investigator who engages in deceptive practices, Ben will explore more fringe ethics topics that come up rarely in our practice but are important to know about: protective order provisions that restrict the practice of law, ethically mitigating while preserving problematic social media evidence, clients who crowdfund legal fees, accepting cryptocurrency for your fees, and what type of friendships with opposing counsel should be disclosed to clients.
CTLA to apply for CLE credit.
You will be sent a link and call-in information an hour before the program to join us by video and/or audio.
